Awerial team arrives in Bor for wrestling

The peace wrestling team from Awerial County, Lakes State, has arrived in Bor town ahead of the competition scheduled for today.

Bor’s team has expressed readiness to battle their counterparts from Lake State.

The Secretary-General for Bor County Wrestling Association, Ayuen Mabior, said all arrangements have been made in place for peaceful wrestling.

“The wrangles in the leadership of the wrestling association will not stop us from conducting our wrestling arena. “The Bor County wrestling association will take all the necessary arrangements for the wrestling to take place peacefully,” Mabior said.

“It is not the first wrestling match between these two countries. We all hope that the matches will end in peace as intended by the two communities,” he added.

The chairperson of the Awerial County Wrestling Association, Bup Mading Bup, revealed that the two counties are always peacefully coexisting.

Mading said the wrestling leadership has set some rules to control both wrestlers and the fans for a peaceful match.

“This wrestling match is for peace the two counties have never had any conflict or differences among themselves.” We as the people of Awerial County have conducted several matches and we are good friends since we believe it is a peaceful match,” Mading stressed.

“We are ready and we come to Bor Jonglei State with aim of winning,” said Mading

He applauded the state government and citizens of Jonglei State for their hospitality upon their arrival in Bor.

On September 21, the Central Equatoria Wrestling and Dancing Association cancelled the proposed match between Jonglei and Central Equatoria State due to lack of a legal wrestling body in Jonglei State after the authorities dissolved the association.
