Willows House to participate in Nairobi Book Fair 2022
Willows House for Printing and Publishing will participate in the 23rd edition of the Nairobi International Book Fair, slated for September 28 to October 2, 2022.
The publisher will represent South Sudan for the first time in the exhibition.
The Director of Willows House, Gata Willow, said in a statement to City Review that participation in the exhibition is in line with their interest in opening up to East Africa, with the aim of venturing into the markets in the region and the world as a whole.
It previously participated in a number of exhibitions in Africa and the Middle East, including the Cairo International Fair, Sharjah Fair, Khartoum Book Fair, Abu Dhabi International Fair, and Madinah Book Fair in Saudi Arabia.
The publisher also seeks to participate in the Riyadh International Fair, which will be held soon, which is considered one of the largest fairs in the Middle East, and also to participate in the Benghazi Book Fair in Libya.
“There are many South Sudanese residing in Kenya, as well as Sudanese, and this is what encouraged us to participate in the Nairobi Book Fair in its 23rd edition,” says Gata Willow.
Willows House has been concerned from an early age with the importance of cultural and literary communication between North and East Africa, where the house cooperates with authors and writers from Algeria, Morocco, and Egypt, and in turn transfers their works to East Africa.
The Nairobi Book Fair is one of the most important events in the region and the largest regional book market where publishing professionals, authors, booksellers, printing materials suppliers, and media from Africa and around the world gather. It is organized annually by the Kenya Publishers Association, and its current session is the 23rd.
