Wildlife officer detained after boy, 12, uses his rifle to injure girl
Authorities in Lakes State are investigating an incident where a 12-year old boy shot and injured a six-year-old girl in Abiriu Payam in Cueibet County.
The state police spokesman Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac said the incident happened at a place known as Pan-thilik village in Cueibet County, adding that the young girl was rushed to Abiriu PHCC for treatment.
He said the weapon belonged to a warrant officer from wildlife.
Makuac said the officer just left the weapon inside a room where the teenage boy grabbed it and inflicted the injuries on the girl.
He said the boy was taken to the police station at Abiriu and the officer was arrested over negligence.
