WhatsApp to introduce ‘call link’

You will be able to make a video or audio call on WhatsApp by simply clicking on a link.

The messaging app announced Tuesday, September 27, that they will be releasing a new feature by the end of the week.

“Excited to introduce Call Links on @WhatsApp so you can easily start or join a call using just a link. Available both for audio and video calls starting this week,” Will Cathcart, WhatsApp Head Manager in Meta, the parent company, tweeted Tuesday.

Users of the messaging app will be able to send the call link to one or all contacts – including those not in their WhatsApp contact list.
“Add the link to an invite or send in a chat, now planning and joining calls is easier than ever,” WhatsApp posted on their official account on Twitter.

Currently, WhatsApp allows its users to send and receive text and voice messages, video and voice calls; share documents and images.

WhatsApp hit the market in 2009.

Since then, the App has implemented some technological advancements including the ability to ‘delete for all’ feature that allows users to erase a message shared to a group or on private accounts.

Until today, ‘leave the group silently’ was their latest innovation.

“Leave groups silently is a new feature that will only notify the admin when you leave a group chat. That means you can decide when to make a quiet exit—without everyone knowing,” the company said when they announced the feature last August.
