VP Nyandeng: Marrying many wives is a burden to men

Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng has strongly warned men against marrying many women.
Nyandeng, the VP for Gender and Youth Cluster said that having many concubines is putting a lot of strain on men owing to the hard economic times.
“Marrying so many wives is unnecessary,” Nyandeng said.
She added: “We need to change the narrative of marrying many women unnecessarily.”
She further appealed to men in the country to commercialise their cattle instead of using them as dowry settlements.
“But if they (men) commercialized their cattle, it has economic benefits; it will help you put your children in school, take them for medication, and you will not be dependent on your brother, who is educated and in town,” she said.
