Upper Nile State most searched on Google in 2021
Upper Nile State was the most searched location in South Sudan in 2021. This is according to the data provided by Google Trends. Google Trends is a function within the search engine that maps the social media searches and terms that users frequently use as keywords to look for their hits.
After a lengthy stalemate within the SPLM/A-IO, President Salva Kiir appointed Budhok Ayang Kur as the governor of Upper Nile, putting to rest the chains of speculations. Besides this, Upper Nile also rocked headlines as a result of the emergence of the splinter SPLM/A-IO faction, Kit-Gwang, which equally grabbed attention.
Central Equatoria State (CES) comes in second on the list. The CES also made headlines through the appointments and change of guard at the summit of the Juba City Council. The clashes amongst the cattle keepers and the ambushes along Juba- Nimule road also contributed to the searches.
Eastern Equatoria State comes third and while Jonglei comes on fourth. Surprisingly, Tombura County was rocked by inter-communal conflicts but failed to make the cut in the top five.
