The City Review newspaper and Juba Echo TV signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cross-promotion yesterday.

Speaking during the signing ceremony yesterday, the Editor-in-Chief of The City Review, Japheth Ogila, said the main reason for the MoU was for content promotion as brands operate in different spaces in the country.

“This is to ensure that we promote our content because we believe that these are two different brands which are operating in different spaces, which is why we came up together so that we can uplift one another,” he said.

Ogila added that they want to ensure a variety of content is given to their audience and they intend to serve the interest of the South Sudanese.

“For the print section, we have diverse content, which I believe that everyone outside there needs to consume. Also, for Juba Echo TV, those who have been able to watch this TV channel are able to get a variety of content, be it talk shows, entertainment or analysis of trending topics,” he further explained.

The General Manager of Juba Echo TV, Edward Owacgiu, emphasised that the partnership is very important because it will serve the interests of the two companies.

“For the harmony of business in this country, we need to embrace barter exchange because this is the only way that a business can uplift a fellow business and get to grow together,” Owacgiu said.

He said the MOU will run for three consecutive months, with the possibility of renewal.

Juba Echo TV is the fastest-growing and leading television station in South Sudan. It is an indigenous online news outlet in South Sudan with a variety of programmes.

The City Review is also a Juba-based South Sudanese newspaper legally registered with the South Sudan Media Authority.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Oyet Patrick, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Juba Echo TV and Mr Rajadurai Muthusamy, the Chief Operation Officer of Rak Media Group Ltd., which owns The City Review.
