SSFA green lights 2024 South Sudan National League

The board of directors of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) gave the green light for the much-anticipated 2024 South Sudan National League.

In a decisive meeting held on April 22, 2024, the board made decisions aimed at enhancing the league’s structure and ensuring its success.

One of the primary highlights of the meeting was the approval of the budget for the upcoming National League season. With this move, the SSFA aims to provide sufficient financial support to facilitate the smooth execution of the league and its associated activities, emphasising their dedication to fostering football development in the nation.

In a strategic shift, the board announced a groundbreaking decision to introduce a multi-city hosting format for the 2024 National League.

This will divide the matches between Wau and Juba and the league aims to decentralise its footprint and engage fans across different regions.

Group A matches will be held in Wau and it will feature teams from Rumbek, Wau, Kuajok, and Aweil, while Juba will host Group B and Group C matches, ensuring widespread participation and excitement.

Furthermore, responding to logistical considerations, the board opted to push back the kickoff date for the league. Originally slated for April 28, the league will now commence on May 1, 2024, allowing ample time for preparations and ensuring a seamless start to the season.

“The decisions made today mark a new era for football in South Sudan, with the approval of the budget, the introduction of multi-city hosting, and the adjustment of the kickoff date, we are committed to delivering an exceptional National League experience for players, fans, and stakeholders alike,” stated Gen. Augustino Maduot Parek, President of SSFA.
