South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) President, Gen. Augustino Maduot Parek, has pledged to reward each player from the U23 national team a sum of SSP 100,000 after representing the country in Ethiopia.

Gen. Parek revealed made the promise on Sunday night during a welcome back party, where the association organised a treat for the players after competing at the CECAFA U23 challenge Cup 2021 in Ethiopia.

The South Sudan U23 national team beat Kenya to third place in the tournament which ended on Friday, July 30. Tanzania clinched the trophy after Burundi in the penalties.

South Sudan began on the low with a 1-0 defeat to Kenya but gained its footing after beating Djibouti 1-0 in the preliminary stages of the tournament.

The tournament came at a time that Gen. Parek took over at the helm of the SSFA, replacing Francis Amin who steered the association for four years.
