Moroccan coach Sidi Mohammed Karouane has signed a two-year deal to take up the management of the South Sudan Senior National Women’s Team.

Karouane’s announcement comes seven months after Shilene Booysen, the previous Bright Starlet’s head coach, resigned.

The South African tactician left her job as the head of the senior women’s national team coach after her contract ran out. The new head coach promised work harder and ensure the team delivers impressive results.

“I am delighted and honoured to be with you, and I thank everyone who trusted me. I promise you that I will do my best to achieve the goals,” Mr. Karouane expressed after his signature in Juba.

His first task will be to fly to Egypt to join the team for the upcoming African Women’s Cup of Nations (AFWCON) qualifications.

He is expected to guide the squad through a critical moment in the history of women’s football.
South Sudan will meet Egypt in a two-leg preliminary round of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers in 2024.

The matches are scheduled for September 20th and 24th in Cairo.

All games will be played in Cairo since the country’s only Juba Stadium is still under construction.

Fans of the national women’s team will be hoping for improved success under his leadership, particularly in the forthcoming AFCON qualifiers.

Mr. Karouane adds a unique viewpoint, significant knowledge, and tactical expertise to raising Bright Starlets, owing to his rich history in coaching Moroccan teams.

South Sudan is eager to make a good mark in the African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers and all these are expected from him.
