The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has appointed Simon James Yor as the Acting Head Coach for the men’s senior national team.

The Bright Stars are currently without a head coach but the team is expected to play some friendly matches.

The contract of Cyprian Besong Ashu came to an end this year after signing a two-year contract with SSFA in 2019 to manage the national team.

The acting head coach is expected to assemble players ahead of the September 30th friendly match against the Egyptian national team in Cairo.

Mr. Yor will be backed by Manowa Deng Ajing as an Assistant Coach, Fitness Coach Nicola Peter Orat, Charles Sebit Gisai as Goalkeeping Coach, Lugala Emmanuel Joseph, Team Manager, Dominic Raphael Margan, Team Doctor and Deng Malek as the Kit Manager.

He served as the manager of Al-Malakia FC and was later appointed the Manager of U20 on October 19, 2021. In June 2021, Yor was appointed as U23 national team coach.

He led the U20 team in CECAFA U20 2020, taking the third position and winning a bronze medal for the country ahead of other well-established East African teams.

In August this year, TRISTAR Company submitted a cheque of $100,000 to SSFA to hire a coach and improve the standard of football in the country.

According to the company, the offer was part of its annual corporate social responsibility to support SSFA in acquiring a coach for the team.

‘‘On behalf of Tristar, I would also like to express the company’s readiness to continue supporting SSFA towards the development of football in the country.

“This is part of the Tristar annual corporate social responsibility to support South Sudan Football,” said Tristar Country Director, Mr. Raveesh Aujla after presenting the cheque to the SSFA officials.

He commended SSFA for doubling its effort towards upgrading football, saying the level of football in the country has greatly improved for the past years.

But the Bright Stars team is yet to announce a permanent ahead coach.
