SPLM lovers paint Wau red ahead of Kiir’s arrival
SPLM members await President Salva Kiir’s arrival in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State, tomorrow.
The ruling party is slated to stage a regional political rally, just three months after President Salva Kiir undertook a historic meet-the-people trip of the region.
The amateur photos shared by various party adherents have shown Wau painted red as delegates arrive in droves donning the SPLM party colours.
The regional political meeting is being planned by SPLM leaders from Abyei Administrative Area and Warrap, Lakes, Northern Bahr el Ghazal, and Western Bahr el Ghazal states to commemorate Kiir’s endorsement as the party’s flag bearer for the December 2024 election.
According to reports on the ground, the governors of the Bahr el Ghazal area and the Abyei Chief Administrator have already arrived in Wau to prepare for the arrival of the head of state. For instance, the governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Tong Akeen Ngor, was pictured in the crowd having arrived for the meeting.
