South Sudanese Madut joins Hungarian National Basketball League

South Sudanese men’s basketball team player Junior Madut has joined the Hungarian National Basketball League (NBL).
Madut signed a season-long deal with the Tasmania JackJumpers ahead of the 2023–2024 campaign, with an option for an extension for another season.
A proven dynamic scorer, the 26-year-old is expected to bring versatility, and athletic prowess to his new side.
“I feel like my strengths will really complement the guys already there and the strong roster they’re putting together,” Madut was quoted by the club’s official website.
He moved to the JackJumpers after one season with Phoenix in the NBL23.
“It feels like they’re building something really special, and I’m excited to immerse myself in the program and be part of that,” Madut said.
Madut was born in South Sudan and moved to Australia at the age of six, where he grew up in Sydney’s west.
He began his college career at Eastern Florida State College before transferring to the University of Hawaii and returned to Australia in 2022 to begin his professional career.
