South Sudan send six athletes to African Athletics Youth Championships

South Sudan will have six athletes take part at the 2023 African Athletics Youth Championships in Zambia next week.

The South Sudanese contingent departed for Lusaka, Zambia, from Ugandan Entebbe Airport on Monday, ready for the four-day event set to run from April 29 to May 3, 2023.

The event will combine both the 4th African U18 Championships and the 15th African U20 Championships.

South Sudan will be hunting for medals in the short put and 200- and 400-meter races.

The team consists of two girls – Sora Deng Machiir (shot put and javelin) and Bakhit John Moresio, who will double in 200 M and 400M meters; and four boys.

Riiny Agouth is expected to ashore the boys in 4oom relays that also has James Dok Riek, Justin Majok Adekdek, and Stephen Dinho Malual.

The team is under the tutelage of Coach Gabriel Wuar and South African Anasio Gobdan.

The competition is expected to attract at least 50 African countries.
