Senior state official shot dead

Director General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing, Upper Nile State, John Okeny is dead.

Okeny was allegedly shot dead by unknown gunmen, Saadalah Deng, the state minister of information confirmed.

He was shot on Tuesday evening around 8 to 9 pm.

“The government has relevant investigative authorities to find his killers,” Deng said.

He added that the Okeny met his death on his way from the market. He was accosted by an unknown person who shot him multiple times.

Okeny died on the spot.

Deng termed Okeny’s death as a “great loss” for the state government due to his long experience in the Ministry of Infrastructure.
