Schoolgirl takes own life over alleged prefect harassment
A Kenyan senior three student allegedly committed suicide after accusing the school prefect of harassment.
According to Winnie Malemba, the area chief, a girl at Bande Girls Secondary School in Migori County committed suicide on Sunday.
The police preliminary investigation indicates that the 15-year-old girl attended a church service with other students within the school compound on Sunday before sneaking out of the church service while it was still on.
She was later found dead inside a classroom.
The report added that the student left a note claiming that she chose to commit herself due to harassment from one of the school’s prefects.
The tragedy comes just a week after a fourth-grade student committed suicide in a classroom at Sare Primary School in Migori County. Additional report from Citizens.
