Philip Stephen Dak has been expelled as the secretary of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A).

Paul Malong Awan finally cracked the just one week of investigating the Dak.

Dak was put under investigation for criticizing and denouncing the procedures of joining the new alliance, Non-signatory South Sudan opposition groups (NSSSOG). The alliance was formed to discourage extension of transitional period by parties to the Revitalised Peace Agreement.

“It has been brought to my attention that one General Philip Stephen Dak has engaged in a myriad and countless misconduct in contravention and violation of Articles 7.2 and 7.3 (SSUF/A) Code of Conduct,” reads a communique by Malong.

Malong defended his decision to fire Dak saying that he violated the terms of his suspension. He further accused the former defense secretary of attempting to weaken his movement.

“You failed to observe the instructions issued in the letter of your suspension. In light of this gross misconduct, that I, General Paul Malong Awan, Chairman and Commander-in-Chief, duly informed by these facts order the expulsion of General Philip Stephen Dak from the rank and file of the South Sudan United Front/Army according to Article 20.7 of the constitution,” he added.

The NSSSOG) alliance was formed to stand against extension of transitional period by parties to the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS).

NSSSOG comprises the United Democratic Revolutionary Movement/Army UDRM/A of Thomas Tut Doap, National Democratic Movement Patriotic Front (NDM-PF) of Emmanuel Ajawin, National Salvation Front (NAS) of Thomas Cirillo, South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) of Paul Malong Awan, Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC) of Alex Yatta Lukadi, and the Real SPLM of Pagan Amum.

Nearly two weeks ago, the new alliance appointed Pagan Amum of Real SPLM as its Press Secretary.

SSUF/A of Paul Malong and Real SPLM of Pagan Amum, are expected to be included in the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangement Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM), by August 15, 2022.
