Kiir to inaugurate Juba National Stadium  

President Salva Kiir is set to inaugurate the Juba National Stadium as Bright Stars prepares to face Sudan in FIFA WORLD CUP 2026 Qualifiers match.  

The government revealed this during a press briefing at Juba National Stadium on Tuesday.

While addressing the media, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Deborah Akech, revealed that President Kiir had confirmed his attendance during the inauguration of the stadium on June 11, 2024.

“The High-Level Committee for the Inauguration of Juba National Stadium announced the 11th of June as the official opening of the Juba National Stadium,” the statement partly read.

She revealed that FIFA President Giani Infantino, among other dignitaries, will also attend the ceremony.

The President of the South Sudan Football Federation, Gen. Agustino Maduot, added that President Kiir and FIFA President, Infantino, will then grace the friendly match. Officials from CAF and CECAFA are also expected to attend the event.

The committee called on the public to turn up and cheer on the Bright Stars as they play against Sudan in a historic international match hosted by South Sudan.
