President Salva Kiir directed the heads of committees probing conflicts in Tonj to conduct full investigations into the incidents that led to the loss of lives and ensure culprits are prosecuted.

The head of state issued the instruction during the swearing-in of the two heads of the committees. The oath was presided over by the Chief Justice, Chan Reech Madut, on Monday.

“There have been frequent incidents in Rual Bet County, Warrap State, in which citizens were killed, also in Mayom County, Unity State.

“Therefore, you must find the roots of the problem and who caused these conflicts [whether the problem was] by the citizens or the soldiers themselves. I hope…you will perform your duties in an excellent manner.”

The head of the investigation committee on the Tonj North incidents, Achuil Adiga, assured the president that they are ready to deliver on the assignment.

“We will do our best as a committee to produce a comprehensive report that contains all the required facts.”

‘‘It is good to work with the group that was assigned to me to carry out the investigations requested by the President of the Republic, and we are ready to do our duty immediately and we will provide you The full report on time.”

The committee will investigate, summon and apprehend any suspect linked to the deadly conflicts in the two counties.
