J&J COVID-19 vaccination to start this week
The Ministry of Health has said Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccination will start this week.
The Chief of Planning and Information at the Public Health Emergency Operation Centre in Juba, Mabior Kiir Kudior, said 25 health workers in Wau and Juba have been trained to administer the vaccine.
However, he failed to mention the commencement date for the vaccination.
He added the 50 people trained will later train other healthcare workers to administer the vaccine in different parts of the country.
Kudior said the priority would be given to the 45 counties that did not receive the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine due to the inaccessibility.
“The distribution plan is on the process and the ministry is expecting the modalities that are already set up to be finished, the J and J vaccine will be rolled out maybe in the second week of October,” he said.
Last month South Sudan received 152,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
