Governor Adil urges for observance of COVID rules

The Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has urged for the strict observance of the COVID-19 containment measures during the Christmas festivities.
In his Christmas message, Adil urged the residents to maintain social distances, wash hands or sanitise and wear face masks while in public.
He warned against large gatherings and called on homesteads to ensure there are facilities for washing hands as well as the uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The directives came in the wake of tightened measures by the National COVID-19 Taskforce led by the Vice President of Cluster Service, Hussein Abdelbagi.
Addressing the media at his residence in Juba last week, Abdelbagi said a dusk to dawn curfew would be observed going into the first week of January. Included were a raft of measures to control movement without the prove of COVID-19 test or jabs.
In the past week, South Sudan recorded an alarming increase in COVID-19 infections, with a larger number of 166 cases coming in just one day.
