Female students outperform male counterparts in commercial, technical schools

The State Ministry of Education in Central Equatoria released results for the 2021/2022 Secondary School Examination for commercial and technical schools on Friday in Juba.

In the 2021/2022 academic year, the total number of secondary education students who sat for the exams in the state was 10,484, with 9,999 passing with a percentage of 95.4 per cent.

Ciresio Zechariah, State Minister of Education, read out the overall performance of the academic section by gender.

“The results show that female candidates outperformed male candidates, with 95.5 per cent of female candidates passing the examinations compared to 95.2 per cent of male candidates,” says the report.

“The total number of females who sat for the exams was 3,901 and the number of girls who passed was 3,734 with a percentage of 95.5,” states the report.

Angelo Paulino, the Deputy Director of Examinations in Central Equatoria State, read out the results.

“The overall performance in commercial sections in gender shows a total of 117 females who sat for the examinations and 92 passes with a percentage of 78.6 and the total number of students and there were 185 people who sat for the exanimation, and 150 people passed with 81.1 per cent,” he read.

According to Paulino, the general observations in the South Sudan Secondary Education examination result performance of the candidates in 2022 in the South Sudan Secondary Examination has decreased by 2.7 per cent to 95.4 per cent as compared to 98.1 per cent obtained in the year 2021.

“Female candidates outperformed male candidates, with 95.5 per cent of female candidates passing the examination compared to 95.2 per cent of male candidates.”
