Facebook bans Trump till 2023

Former US President Donald Trump will continue being an absentee in Facebook after his ban was decided by the tech giant on Friday.
Trump now stands suspended from the social media platform till at least January 2023. This is after Facebook Inc announced changes on how it will handle the controversial former world leader who accused of abusing the platform’s rules.
“Given the gravity of the circumstances that led to Mr. Trump’s suspension, we believe his actions constituted a severe violation of our rules which merit the highest penalty available under the new enforcement protocols,” said Nick Clegg, Facebook’s head of global affairs as quoted by the Reuters.
Facebook had suspended Trump’s account following the deadly January 6, 2021, Capitol Hill riot. He was accused of inciting public to violence.
Facebook said the suspension would last for at least two years from the date of the initial block and would only be lifted if the risk to public safety had receded.
Trump however, has criticized the move, describing it as a form of censorship and an insult to his voters, according to Reuters.
The former US leader has been permanently banned by Twitter and remains under suspension by YouTube indefinitely.
