Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is in the South Sudanese capital Juba in scheduled bilateral talks with his counterpart Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the Republic of South Sudan.

Sisi arrived at Juba International Airport Saturday where he was welcomed by Kiir with citizens and groups of traditional dancers cheering on.

A document signed by Presidential Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny earlier said Sisi and Kiir will also discuss a range of issues of regional concern.

“The two leaders are expected to hold bilateral talks which will include State lunch. They will discuss bilateral issues and exchange views regional stability as well as deepening South Sudan and Egypt diplomatic ties,” part of the document read.

Sisi’s arrival also saw security within the capital Juba beefed up with traffic police and soldiers shielding up major roads linking to the airport.
