Normal operations at the Eastern Equatoria State Government was paralysed Wednesday morning after fire gutted down the secretariat.

The inferno that started at 7am on Wednesday, just when the staff were reporting to work, destroyed crucial document as old as 1994. 

Aliandro Lotok, the State Press Secretary in the Office of the Governor told City Review that the fire originated from the power room inside the secretariat before spreading to adjacent offices.

Lotok added that normal operation at the secretariat in Torit, will greatly be affected. 

Lotok added that Governor Louis Lobong Lojore will not be going to the office until after the renovation work at the secretariat is complete.

The fire was put off by UNMISS fire brigade in Torit.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the root cause of the fire.
