Northern Bahr el-Ghazal State launched a training workshop for lawmakers.

According to office of the Governor, the training will focus on governance, leadership, and the roles of legislators.

Governor Tong Akeen Ngor noted that the purpose of the training is to build the capacity of the State Legislative Assembly Members in the areas of governance, leadership, and the in-depth appreciation of their roles as the state legislators and the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.

In February, during the swearing-in of the MPs, Governor Ngor urged the legislators to amend the state constitution to enable effective service delivery.

He called for the unity of all the arms of the government so that tangible results could be achieved while delivering services to the people.

“I hope you are energetic to discharge your duties with full strength and with ambitions to serve your great citizens in the state. I want to thank you once more for being patient and waiting for this historical day,” he said.

Ngor referred to the inauguration of the state assembly as a “milestone” in building trust and confidence for peace and unity among the people.

He further advised them (legislators) to adhere to transparency and accountability while discharging their duties.

“Our collective responsibilities and mandate are to implement a revitalised peace agreement to build trust, confidence, and reconcile our great citizens to live in peace and harmony so that the services are delivered,” Ngor said.
